This was spot on. I really loved it and resonated with everything you said. It convicted me of all the times I thought Instagram was the problem, but in fact, it was me.

You came to the simple conclusion of jealousy without examining so many aspects of what’s actually happening on these platforms. Misinformation, overload of advertising, compromised privacy rights, etc. the list goes on and on.

Ultimately I think it’s an app filled with people, and what people have always done will be brought to the platform. I used jealousy because comparison is the #1 reason I hear the people around me leaving instagram— if people are jealous in real life, then they will be jealous on instagram. If someone spreads lies in real life, they’ll bring misinformation on instagram. The businesses will advertise, people will cheat others, etc— but while we are full of sin, we are also capable of good, and I think the issue lies within human hearts and not with an app.
